James Stegmaier

James J. L. Stegmaier has been the Chesterfield County administrator since July 2007. Before that appointment, he was the deputy county administrator for management services beginning in 1997 and the director of the county budget and management department fro 1986-97.  Stegmaier graduated from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., in 1976, and also holds a master's degree in public administration from the University of Virginia. He has also attended the Government Finance Officers Association Executive Finance Institute at Georgetown University, Leadership Metro Richmond, and the Senior Executive Institute at the University of Virginia.
