Phillip Puckett

Phillip Puckett, D-38th, joined the Virginia state Senate in 1998. He is from Russell County and represents all or parts of nine counties in the far southwestern corner of Virginia. He is a member of the Transportation, Privileges and Elections, Commerce and Labor, and Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources committees. In 2005, Puckett ran unsuccessfully in the Democratic primary for lieutenant governor. Puckett, a banker, graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a master's in administration from Virginia Tech. He previously worked as a principal and teacher in the Russell County School system.
